The Arclight theatre in the heart of Hollywood witnessed last night the LA premiere of The Zookeeper’s Wife.

The movie, based on the bestseller novel of the same name by Diane Ackerman, chronicles the story of Dr. Jan Żabiński and his wife Antonina, the Warsaw zookeepers, who saved about 300 Jews during the Holocaust trafficking them from the Warsaw ghetto and hiding at the cellars of their ZOO home.

In 1965 the Polish heroes were awarded the title of “Righteous Among Nations”. This great movie, directed by Niki Caro stars two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain (in a superb performance as Antonina), Johan Heldenbergh (as her husband Jan) and Daniel Brühli (as a Nazi zoologist and officer Lutz Heck) is a must see.
